Josh The Bass
Near the lake walking looking below
Reflective shadow as the water glows
Beneath the surface fish swim slow
Someday Josh the Bass will be alone
Tangling lines from our fishing
pole
Using his power to pull us his way
Into the lily pads swimming briskly
Where Josh hides beneath so closely
Following the lure that baits his fate
As dad rows the boat, only to wait
Where the wind blows ripples across
Flowing waves beneath and beyond
Where the Bass feed along the pond
Soon old Josh under the logs of wood
Will disappear unable to steal my hook
Patiently I sit suddenly my pole bends
I pull it quickly setting the hook then
Out of the water into the sky jumping
Again Josh the bass suddenly begins
To splash his tail into the boat again
Finally smiles race across my face
I pull It close yet it continues to race
Across the bow then under the side
My pull suddenly reaches for the sky
Josh shakes his head and gets away
We laughed together Dad and me
For today became so natural and free
Broken lines as Josh survived to see
Waves of relief as we rowed away
Only God left Josh for another day
