Submission Guidelines

NOT ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS AT THIS TIME
Shoelace publishing welcomes submissions for short stories, mysteries, poetry, essays, as well as fictional works. All short stories must be between 1,500 and 2,500 words. But please send a query letter to find out, whether we are accepting short story submissions.
Fictional works of at least 95,000 to150,000 Words. Accompanied by at least three chapters of the book. Please include a short summary, about the work submitted. What markets you're trying to address, and the age groups that would find your book interesting? Please include in your opinion why, Shoelace Publishing Inc. would benefit from your skill of fictional art.
Poetry submissions are only accepted in runs of 10 poems giving us a full written understanding of your skill as a poet within the art of forms and meter. Free verse must be a cut above the rest, as we don't accept ramblings, diary or journal entries. No more than forty lines per poem maximum length.
Please keep in mind whether Poetry, Fiction or short stories. Realize here at Shoelace Publishing Inc. we consider the following when appraising ones work, originality and quality of the written plot in development, credible dialogue and consistent narrative voice. As well as it's appeal to a definable audience and compatibility with other titles on our list. We do not accept simultaneous submissions or works that has been previously published elsewhere. It must be of the writer's original work.
We prefer typewritten submissions, doubled spaced in an easy to read font. Please include a cover letter with a brief author biography (information regarding previously published material, education, interests, and relevant contacts), no more than seventy-five words. Your full address and telephone number, as well as email address should be on the cover letter and your name should be on the top right-hand corner of every page
Proofread your submission for spelling and grammatical errors, which may divert attention from your work. Unfortunately we do not critique works submitted. However it is our option to edit, if necessary. Shoelace Publishing Inc. has FIRST NORTH AMERICAN SERIAL, ELECTRONIC AND PUBLISHING RIGHTS as well as one-time anthology reprint rights only. All book contracts are negotiable and will be written accordingly. All other rights will revert back to the author after fulfiling contract obligations between Shoelace publishing Inc.
Shoelace publishing Inc. is not responsible for the loss or damage of any submitted materials. Submissions will only be returned if accompanied by a SASE with adequate return postage. All submissions are processed by date of arrival and will be dealt with in that order. Up to two editors in-house will assess your manuscript should this prove necessary. We aim to respond to all submissions within three to four months. Please remember that we are a small publisher that receives more than sixty queries or manuscripts a month. If we take longer than four months to respond to your submission, write us and we will appraise your manuscript as soon as possible. If you have any questions or need some clarification write us.
